Farewell Nancy

One of my oldest SL friends, Nancy R, whom I met in SL whilst I was still writing 'AFK' (and who was also the first person to read it when it was finished) passed away this morning after an all-too-brief battle with cancer. Nancy really was one of the nicest people I've met in the metaverse and I can't quite believe I won't ever again enjoy her witty, easygoing conversation. I am shocked by the speed with which this kind and gentle person has been taken from us.

Rest in peace, Nancy. I'm grateful to have known you.

Free homes for SL Premium members

After all those what-would-it-take-to-get-you-to-become-a-subscriber surveys, it actually looks like Linden is going to offer some sort of an incentive for residents to upgrade from basic accounts - a free house on a 512m parcel, no less. The new policy, which is about to go into beta, imposes quite a number of restrictions on your use of the land (like not being able to change the house); even so, a free house is not to be scoffed at.
